Introduction

Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) is a long-chain Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (C20:5 n-3) that plays a critical role in cardiovascular physiology and inflammatory regulation. While standard fish oils contain only 18% EPA, our specialized fractionation technology allows us to produce High-Purity EPA concentrates (up to 95%).
Unlike DHA (which focuses on brain structure), EPA is the "functional" Omega-3, acting as a precursor to eicosanoids (prostaglandins-3, thromboxanes-3, leukotrienes-5) that actively reduce inflammation, improve blood flow, and regulate your mood.

Functions
1.Cardiovascular Protection (Clinically Validated)
• Triglyceride Reduction: High-dose pure EPA is clinically proven to significantly lower plasma triglyceride levels (VLDL clearance) without raising LDL cholesterol (a side effect sometimes seen with DHA).
• Plaque Stability: Helps stabilize atherosclerotic plaques, reducing the risk of rupture and subsequent cardiovascular events.

2.Anti-Inflammatory Potency (MOA)
• Competition: EPA competes with Arachidonic Acid (Omega-6) for cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, shifting the body's balance towards anti-inflammatory mediators.
• Joint Health: Reduces joint stiffness and pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis.
3.Mood & Mental Wellness
• Depression Support: Clinical meta-analyses suggest that EPA (specifically formulations with >60% EPA ratio) is more effective than DHA in alleviating symptoms of depression by reducing neuro-inflammation.

Applications
• Pharmaceuticals (API):
○ Hypertriglyceridemia Drugs: Starting material for prescription-grade Omega-3 therapies.
• Dietary Supplements:
○ Heart Health Softgels: "EPA-Only" or "High-EPA" formulas for consumers focused on cholesterol management.
○ Mood Support: Specialized capsules of "EPA for Mood" .

• Functional Foods:
○ Fortified Oils: Used in premium salad oil blends (Cold application).
Flow Chart

1.Raw Material: Crude Fish Oil (from Anchovy/Sardine) or Algal Biomass.
2.Esterification: Conversion of Triglycerides to Ethyl Esters (EE) to lower boiling point.
3.Molecular Distillation: Repeated distillation under high vacuum to separate EPA from DHA and other fatty acids based on carbon chain length.
4.Urea Complexation / Chromatography: Advanced purification to remove saturated fats and isolate EPA to >90% purity.
5.Re-esterification (Optional): Enzymatic conversion back to rTG form for premium bio-availability.
6.Deodorization: Mild steam stripping to remove fishy odor.
7.Filtration & Packaging: 0.2μm filtration and nitrogen packing.

Method of Analysis of Lactoferrin
Gas Chromatography (GC) is the standard method (Ph. Eur. / USP).
• Column: Polyethylene glycol (PEG) stationary phase is typically used to ensure separation of the critical EPA peak from C18:4 n-3 and DHA.
• Standardization: Calculations are based on comparison with a high-purity EPA reference standard to ensure quantitative accuracy for "mg/g" labeling claims.

(Image Placeholder: GC Chromatogram of 90% EPA)
The chromatogram illustrates a singular, dominant peak for EPA (>90% total area), demonstrating the efficacy of our separation technology. The absence of significant DHA or Saturated Fat peaks confirms the high specificity of the product.
Stability and Safety
Stability Studies
• Oxidative Stress: Pure EPA is extremely reactive to oxygen.
• Antioxidants: Stabilized with alpha-Tocopherol (Vitamin E) or Rosemary Extract.
• Storage: Best stored under inert gas (Nitrogen/Argon) in minimal headspace containers.
• Shelf Life: 24 months at <20°C. Refrigeration (2-8°C) is highly recommended for 90%+ purity grades to maintain low TOTOX values.
Safety & Handling (MSDS Summary)
• Classification: GRAS.
• Safety: Safe for consumption. High doses (>3g/day) may increase bleeding time; consult a physician if on anticoagulants.
• Handling: Avoid heat and light. Use nitrogen flush after opening.

FAQ
What is the difference between EE (Ethyl Ester) and TG (Triglyceride)?
• EE: The form naturally resulting from molecular distillation. Higher concentration (up to 97%). slightly lower absorption rate initially, but effective with meals. • rTG (Re-esterified Triglyceride): EE converted back to TG form. Superior bioavailability and absorption, but higher cost due to the extra processing step. We supply both.
Why choose High-EPA over standard Fish Oil?
Standard fish oil (18:12) is for general health. High-EPA (>90%) is a targeted therapeutic ingredient. It allows for a clinical dose (e.g., 2g EPA) in just 2 small softgels, improving patient compliance compared to swallowing 6-7 large standard capsules.
Is your EPA free from radiation/contaminants?
Yes. We source small, short-lived fish (Anchovies) from the clean waters of Peru/Chile, and our molecular distillation process removes virtually all environmental pollutants (PCBs, heavy metals), meeting strict EU and Proposition 65 standards.
