Introduction

Glucosamine Hydrochloride (CAS: 66-84-2) is an amino sugar and a prominent precursor in the biochemical synthesis of glycosylated proteins and lipids. It is a fundamental building block of joint cartilage and synovial fluid.
Compared to Glucosamine Sulfate, the Hydrochloride (HCl) form offers a higher concentration of elemental glucosamine (~83%) and superior stability. We supply both Shellfish-derived (Traditional) and Corn-fermented (Vegan/Non-GMO) grades, meeting rigorous USP/EP standards for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications globally.

Functions
1.Cartilage Regeneration & Repair
Glucosamine HCl stimulates chondrocytes to synthesize Proteoglycans and Collagen, the structural scaffolding of cartilage. This helps repair damaged tissues and slow the progression of Osteoarthritis (OA).
2.Synovial Fluid Lubrication
It promotes the production of Hyaluronic Acid in the synovial fluid, enhancing joint lubrication and shock absorption capabilities, leading to improved mobility and reduced friction.
3.Anti-Inflammatory Action
Recent studies indicate Glucosamine HCl can inhibit the breakdown of cartilage by suppressing inflammatory enzymes (like metalloproteinases), providing relief from joint pain and stiffness.

Applications
1.Dietary Supplements (Joint Health)
• Format: Tablets, Capsules, Powder Blends.
• Advantage: Our DC Grade (Direct Compression) powder with PVP binder ensures hard, smooth tablets without capping issues.
2.Vegan/Vegetarian Formulas
• Grade: Fermented Glucosamine HCl.
• Benefit: Allows for "Shellfish-Free" and "100% Vegan" claims, tapping into the growing plant-based market.
3.Animal Nutrition (Pet Joint Care)
• Use: Hip & Joint chews for dogs and horses.
• Benefit: Highly bioavailable and cost-effective for long-term veterinary use.

Flow Chart
Green Fermentation vs. Traditional Extraction
Method A: Fermentation (Vegan)
1.Fermentation: Using non-GMO Corn glucose + Aspergillus niger.
2.Filtration: Removing biomass.
3.Crystallization: Adding Hydrochloric Acid to form crystals.
4.Purification: Recrystallization for 99% purity.
5.Drying & Milling.
Method B: Hydrolysis (Shellfish)
1.Raw Material: Chitin from Shrimp/Crab shells.
2.Hydrolysis: Acid hydrolysis with HCl.
3.Decolorization: Activated carbon treatment.
4.Crystallization & Drying.

Method of Analysis of Lactoferrin
HPLC & Specific Rotation
• Specific Rotation: Used to confirm the identity and optical purity of the D-Glucosamine isomer.
• HPLC: Specifically separates Glucosamine from potential impurities like N-acetylglucosamine or residual sugars in the fermented grade.

The chromatogram demonstrates a single, clean peak at the characteristic retention time, confirming high purity (>99%) and the absence of degradation products.
Stability and Safety
Stability Studies
• Shelf Life: 36 months (3 Years).
• Hygroscopicity: Glucosamine HCl is less hygroscopic than the Sulfate Sodium salt, making it more stable in humid conditions and easier to handle during manufacturing.
• Condition: Store in tight, light-resistant containers.
Safety & Handling (MSDS Summary)
• Allergen Status: Shellfish grade contains allergens; Fermented grade is Allergen-Free.
• Handling: Wear dust mask. Safe to handle.
• Storage: Cool, dry place.

FAQ
What is the difference between Glucosamine HCl and Sulfate?
• HCl: Higher purity (~99%), yields ~83% active glucosamine. More stable. • Sulfate (2KCl/NaCl): Contains stabilizing salts (Potassium/Sodium), yielding only ~60% active glucosamine. However, some clinical studies used the Sulfate form. We supply both.
Is your Glucosamine Vegan?
We offer two types: 1.Shellfish Source: Derived from crab/shrimp shells (Not Vegan). 2.Fermentation Source: Derived from Corn (100% Vegan & Shellfish-Free). Please specify your preference when ordering.
Can you supply Direct Compression (DC) grade?
Yes. We supply Glucosamine HCl DC95, which includes a binder (PVP/HPMC) to improve compressibility for tablet manufacturing.
