Introduction
Sacha Inchi Oil, also known as Inca Peanut Oil, is extracted from the star-shaped seeds of the Plukenetia volubilis plant, native to the Amazon rainforest (and now has cultivated in China). It is celebrated as one of the best plant-based sources of Omega-3 fatty acids on the planet, often exceeding the content found in flaxseed oil. Unlike fish oil, Sacha Inchi Oil offers a clean, nutty flavor without the heavy metal risks or fishy aftertaste. It is a highly stable oil due to its naturally high content of antioxidants like Vitamin E (Tocopherols) and Vitamin A.

Functions
1.Cardiovascular Health (Omega-3 Rich)
• Lipid Regulation: The high concentration of α-Linolenic Acid (ALA) helps balance the Omega-6/Omega-3 ratio in the body, which is crucial for reducing systemic inflammation.
• Cholesterol Management: Aids in lowering LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglycerides while raising HDL levels.

2.Brain & Nervous System Support
• Neuro-protection: Omega-3 fatty acids are essential components of neuronal cell membranes, supporting cognitive function, memory, and mood regulation.
3.Skin Repair & Anti-Aging
• Barrier Function: Restores the skin's lipid barrier, preventing transepidermal water loss (TEWL).
• Antioxidant Protection: Rich in Tocopherols (Vit E), it neutralizes free radicals, reducing oxidative stress and premature aging signs like wrinkles and dullness.
Applications
Dietary Supplements:
• Vegan Omega-3 Softgels: A perfect plant-based alternative to fish oil capsules.
• Direct Oral Liquid: Sold as a premium functional oil for daily intake.

Gourmet & Functional Food:
• Salad Oils & Dressings: Adds a pleasant nutty flavor (do not heat to high temperatures).
• Nutritional Fortification: Added to smoothies and health bars.
Cosmetics & Personal Care:
• Hair Care: Penetrates the hair shaft to moisturize and repair split ends (Hair Oil/Serums).

• Skincare: Non-comedogenic oil for facial oils, body lotions, and massage oils.
Flow Chart
1.Seed Selection: Harvesting mature Plukenetia volubilis seeds.
2.Shelling: Removing the star-shaped husks to obtain the kernel.
3.Cleaning: Removing dust and impurities.
4.Cold Pressing: Mechanical pressing at low temperature (<45°C) to extract raw oil.
5.Filtration: Multi-stage filtration to remove sediment and waxes.
6.Deodorization (Optional): Mild processing for cosmetic grades if a neutral scent is required.
7.Quality Testing: GC analysis for fatty acid profile and acid value.
8.Packaging: Nitrogen-flushed drums or bottles.

Method of Analysis of Lactoferrin
We rely on Gas Chromatography (GC) for the precise determination of the Fatty Acid Profile.
• Fatty Acid Methyl Esters (FAMEs): Oil is transesterified, and the resulting esters are analyzed to confirm the high ratio of Omega-3 (C18:3) and Omega-6 (C18:2).
• Oxidation Tests: Standard titration methods (AOCS) are used for Acid Value and Peroxide Value to ensure freshness.
Reference Chromatogram of Lactoferrin Reference Substance
(Image Placeholder: GC Fatty Acid Profile of Sacha Inchi Oil)
The chromatogram distinctively shows the dominance of polyunsaturated fatty acids. The largest peak corresponds to α-Linolenic Acid (ALA), followed closely by Linoleic Acid, validating the "Superfood" status of the oil.

Stability and Safety
Stability Studies
• Natural Antioxidants: Despite being highly unsaturated, Sacha Inchi Oil is surprisingly stable due to its high Vitamin E content (approx. 2000ppm).
• Shelf Life: 18-24 months when stored properly.
• Storage Test: Samples stored in dark glass/metal containers at 20°C showed minimal increase in peroxide value over 12 months.
Safety & Handling (MSDS Summary)
• Classification: Non-hazardous food ingredient.
• Allergens: Derived from seeds (Nut). While less allergenic than peanuts, proper labeling is required.
• Storage: Store in a cool, dry, and dark place. Avoid direct sunlight and high temperatures to prevent oxidation. Nitrogen capping recommended after opening.

FAQ
How does Sacha Inchi Oil compare to Flaxseed Oil?
Both are excellent sources of Omega-3 (ALA). However, Sacha Inchi Oil generally has a higher Vitamin E content, making it more stable and less prone to rancidity than Flaxseed Oil. It also has a more palatable nutty taste compared to the often bitter taste of Flaxseed oil.
Can I use this oil for cooking?
We recommend using it as a finishing oil (salads, dips, smoothies) rather than for high-heat frying. High heat can degrade the delicate Omega-3 fatty acids. Its smoke point is relatively low (approx. 160°C).
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. Sacha Inchi Oil is lightweight, non-comedogenic (won't clog pores), and hypo-allergenic. Its regenerative properties make it ideal for sensitive, dry, or irritated skin.
