Introduction

P&K

Sea Buckthorn Oil is a precious bioactive lipid extracted from the berries of the "Holy Fruit of the Himalayas" (Hippophae rhamnoides). Unlike most plant oils, Sea Buckthorn offers two distinct profiles:

1.Fruit Oil (Berry Oil): Extracted from the fleshy pulp. Dark red color. It is unique for its high content of Omega-7 (Palmitoleic Acid), a fatty acid vital for collagen production and mucous membrane health.

2.Seed Oil: Extracted from the small seeds. Yellow/Orange color. Rich in Omega-3 (Alpha-Linolenic Acid) and Omega-6 in a near-perfect 1:1 ratio.

We utilize Supercritical CO2 Extraction, a low-temperature, solvent-free process that retains the full spectrum of heat-sensitive vitamins (Vitamin E, Carotenoids) and sterols.

Functions

1. Mucous Membrane Health (Omega-7 USP)

• Mechanism: Omega-7 is a key component of epithelial cell membranes.

• Application: Clinical studies suggest Fruit Oil helps alleviate dryness in mucous membranes, including eyes (dry eye syndrome), mouth, and vaginal atrophy (especially in post-menopausal women).

2. Skin Repair & Anti-Aging

• Regeneration: Stimulates skin regeneration and wound healing.

• UV Protection: Rich in Carotenoids (beta-carotene) and Vitamin E (Tocopherols), providing protection against photo-aging and oxidative stress.

3. Gastroprotection

• Ulcer Support: Forms a protective coating on the gastric lining, helping to soothe ulcers and relieve symptoms of GERD (Acid Reflux).

Applications

Nutraceuticals:

• Softgels: 500mg/1000mg Fruit Oil capsules are a top seller for "Beauty from Within" and "Menopause Support".

• Liquid Drops: Sublingual formulations for dry eye relief.

Cosmetics (Skincare):

• Face Oils & Serums: Adds a golden glow (due to carotenoids) and intense hydration. Used in anti-wrinkle and scar-healing creams.

Functional Foods:

• Superfood Blends: Added to smoothies or salad dressings for its distinct berry flavor and nutrient density.

Flow Chart

1.Harvesting: Wild-harvested or Organically farmed Sea Buckthorn berries (Inner Mongolia/Tibet Plateau origin).

2.Separation: Separation of Pulp and Seeds (if producing specific oils).

3.Drying: Low-temperature freeze-drying or air-drying.

4.CO2 Extraction:

• High Pressure / Low Temperature (<35°C).

• Benefit: No hexane, no thermal degradation, sterile product.

5.Separation: CO2 evaporates completely, leaving 100% pure oil.

6.Winterization (Optional): To remove waxes for clear oil.

7.Packaging: Nitrogen-flushed Aluminum or HDPE Drums.

Method of Analysis of Lactoferrin

• Fatty Acid Profile: Gas Chromatography (GC) is the gold standard to verify the Omega-7 content.

• Carotenoids: UV-Vis Spectrophotometry (measured as Beta-carotene).

• Vitamin E: HPLC.

Reference Chromatogram of Lactoferrin Reference Substance

(Image Placeholder: GC Fatty Acid Profile)

The chromatogram for Fruit Oil typically shows a dominant peak for C16:1 Palmitoleic Acid (Omega-7) and C16:0 Palmitic Acid.

The chromatogram for Seed Oil shows dominant peaks for C18:3 Linolenic Acid (Omega-3) and C18:2 Linoleic Acid (Omega-6).

Stability and Safety

Stability Studies

• Natural Antioxidants: Due to high levels of Tocopherols and Carotenoids, Sea Buckthorn Oil is relatively stable compared to other unsaturated oils.

• Shelf Life: 24 months.

• Storage: Store in a cool, dark place. Carotenoids are light-sensitive—exposure to light will fade the red color and degrade Vitamin A activity.

Safety & Handling (MSDS Summary)

• Classification: GRAS (Food).

• Staining: Warning: Fruit oil is intensely pigmented (orange/red). It will stain skin and clothing temporarily. Use at 1-5% in cosmetic formulations to avoid turning skin orange.

FAQ

What is the difference between Fruit Oil and Seed Oil?

• Fruit Oil: Dark Red. High Omega-7. Best for: Mucosa health (dry eyes/mouth/vagina), gastric ulcers, and skin healing. • Seed Oil: Yellow/Orange. High Omega-3. Best for: General cardiovascular health and inflammation. • Blend: We also offer a "Complete Omega" blend (Fruit + Seed).

Does it stain the skin?

Fruit Oil is highly pigmented. If applied neat (100%), it will leave an orange tint. We recommend diluting it to 1-10% in a carrier oil (like Jojoba) or using it in creams. Seed Oil does not stain as much.

Why CO2 extraction?

It is superior to cold pressing for Sea Buckthorn because the berries are wet and hard to press without oxidation. CO2 extraction extracts all the lipophilic nutrients without heat, solvent residues, or microbial risk.
