Chlorogenic acid
Chlorogenic Acid Powder | 98% High Purity Manufacturer Headline: High-Purity Chlorogenic Acid Manufacturer | 98% HPLC (CAS: 327-97-9) Sub-info: Source: Eucommia ulmoides Leaf / Lonicera japonica | Grade: Pharmaceutical & Cosmetic | Soluble in Water USP: Broad-Spectrum Antibacterial • Blood Pressure Support • Plant-Based Antioxidant
Introduction

Chlorogenic Acid (CGA) is a major phenolic compound produced by plants as a defense mechanism. While commonly associated with Green Coffee Beans (typically 50% purity), our Premium 98% Chlorogenic Acid is extracted from the leaves of Eucommia ulmoides or Honeysuckle, offering a pure, white crystalline powder suitable for pharmaceutical and high-end cosmetic applications.
It is chemically known as 3-O-caffeoylquinic acid and is recognized for its potent biological activities, including regulating glucose metabolism, antiviral properties, and scavenging free radicals better than Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C).

Functions
1. Antibacterial & Antiviral
CGA exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Salmonella. It disrupts the permeability of bacterial cell membranes. In animal health, it is a proven non-antibiotic alternative for preventing viral infections.

2. Blood Pressure & Cardiovascular Health
Clinical studies suggest CGA helps lower blood pressure by promoting the release of nitric oxide (NO) from the endothelium and inhibiting the Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE). It improves arterial elasticity and blood lipid profiles.

3. Glucose Metabolism (Weight Management)
It inhibits the enzyme glucose-6-phosphatase, reducing the release of glucose from the liver into the bloodstream. This mechanism supports healthy blood sugar levels and promotes fat metabolism, making it a key ingredient in weight management formulas.

Applications
Pharmaceuticals:
• Injectables/Tablets: Used as the API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) in traditional medicines for clearing heat, detoxification, and lowering blood pressure.

Cosmetics:
• Anti-Acne & Soothing: Its strong antibacterial properties make it effective in treating acne and skin inflammation.
• Antioxidant Serums: Protects collagen from UV damage.

Animal Health (Veterinary):
• Feed Additive: A natural growth promoter and immune booster, replacing synthetic antibiotics in poultry and swine feed.
Flow Chart
Raw Material (Eucommia Leaves) → Water/Ethanol Extraction → Filtration → Macroporous Resin Adsorption (Purification) → Elution → Concentration → Crystallization → Recrystallization (For >98% Purity) → Vacuum Drying → Milling → Quality Control (HPLC) → Packaging
Note: Our crystallization process removes impurities like caffeic acid and quinic acid, ensuring a single-peak high purity.

Method of Analysis of Lactoferrin
We use HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) with a C18 column and UV detection at 327nm.
• Specific Isomer: We quantify 3-CQA (3-caffeoylquinic acid), the most bioactive isomer. Lower quality market products often mix in 4-CQA or 5-CQA or simply test for "Total Phenolic Acids," which inflates the result. We guarantee single-component purity.
Reference Chromatogram of Lactoferrin Reference Substance
(Imagine a sharp, single peak)
The chromatogram shows a dominant peak at the retention time of Chlorogenic Acid. The baseline is flat, indicating the removal of other flavonoids and tannins found in the crude leaf extract.
Stability and Safety
Stability Studies
Chlorogenic Acid is heat-sensitive and susceptible to oxidation (turning brown).
• Shelf Life: 24 months.
• Storage: Critical: Store in a cool, dark place. Exposure to light and high pH (alkaline) causes rapid degradation and color change (to green/brown).
• pH Stability: Most stable in acidic environments (pH 3-5).
Safety & Handling (MSDS Summary)
• Classification: Non-hazardous botanical ingredient.
• Safety: Very low toxicity. LD50 > 5000 mg/kg (Rat).
• Handling: Avoid contact with alkaline substances.

FAQ
What is the difference between Green Coffee Bean Extract and Eucommia Extract?
Green Coffee Bean Extract is typically 50% Total Chlorogenic Acids, used mainly for weight loss supplements (cheap). Eucommia/Honeysuckle Extract yields 98% Pure Chlorogenic Acid, used for pharmaceuticals, injections, and high-end cosmetics (expensive, high efficacy).
Is Chlorogenic Acid stable in water?
It has good solubility in warm water, but in aqueous solution, it can hydrolyze into Caffeic Acid and Quinic Acid if exposed to high heat or alkaline pH. We recommend keeping the formulation pH below 6.0.
Can it be used as a preservative?
Yes. Due to its broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, natural Chlorogenic Acid is increasingly used as a natural preservative in food and cosmetics to replace synthetic parabens.
