Introduction

P&K

Beta-Sitosterol (β-Sitosterol) is the most abundant and biologically active phytosterol found in plants. Structurally similar to cholesterol, it competes with cholesterol for absorption in the digestive system, effectively blocking its uptake.

We manufacture high-purity Beta-Sitosterol derived from premium Non-GMO Soybeans or Pine Trees. It is a critical functional ingredient for cardiovascular supplements (Heart Health) and is widely recognized in Europe and the USA for its therapeutic role in managing Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). We offer customizable specifications ranging from 40% (Total Sterols) to 95% (High Purity Beta-Sitosterol) to meet diverse formulation needs.

Functions

1.Cholesterol Lowering (Cardiovascular Health)

Beta-Sitosterol competitively inhibits the intestinal absorption of dietary and biliary cholesterol. Clinical studies show that a daily intake of 1.5-3g of phytosterols can lower LDL ("bad") cholesterol by 8-15%, supporting heart health claims approved by FDA and EFSA.

2.Prostate Health (BPH Support)

It inhibits the activity of 5-alpha-reductase, an enzyme involved in prostate enlargement. Regular supplementation helps alleviate urinary symptoms associated with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), such as weak urine flow and frequent nighttime urination.

3.Immune Modulation

Beta-Sitosterol has been shown to modulate immune function (increasing T-cell proliferation) and possess anti-inflammatory properties, beneficial for reducing systemic inflammation.

Applications

1.Dietary Supplements (Heart Health)

• Forms: Softgels (Oil suspensions), Tablets, Capsules.

• Claim: "Helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels already within the normal range."

2.Men's Health Formulas

• Forms: Prostate Support Complexes (often blended with Saw Palmetto, Zinc, and Lycopene).

• Why: Beta-Sitosterol is the key active marker often cited in clinical efficacy studies for prostate function.

3.Functional Foods

• Forms: Margarines, Yogurts, Salad Dressings.

• Why: Excellent stability in fat-based food matrices makes it ideal for fortification.

Flow Chart

Physical Purification to Maximize Purity

1.Raw Material: Vegetable Oil Deodorizer Distillate (VODD) from Soy or Pine.

2.Esterification: (Optional) To create sterol esters for better oil solubility.

3.Crystallization: Controlled cooling to precipitate sterols.

4.Filtration: Separation of solid sterols from oil residues.

5.Purification: Solvent washing to remove impurities and other minor sterols.

6.Drying: Vacuum drying to remove solvents.

7.Milling: Grinding to fine powder (Micronized options available).

8.QC Testing: GC analysis for Beta-Sitosterol content.

9.Packing: 25kg Fiber Drum / Carton.

Method of Analysis of Lactoferrin

Gas Chromatography (GC)

• Why: Sterols are structurally very similar. Only GC can accurately separate and quantify Beta-Sitosterol from Campesterol and Stigmasterol. We provide a detailed breakdown of the sterol profile in every COA.

The chromatogram clearly separates the four main phytosterols: Brassicasterol, Campesterol, Stigmasterol, and Beta-Sitosterol (the dominant peak), proving the authenticity of the botanical source.

Stability and Safety

Stability Studies

• Shelf Life: 24 months.

• Conditions: Store in cool, dry place (< 25°C). Avoid direct sunlight.

• Result: The product is highly stable. Assay values for Total Phytosterols remain >95% after 2 years of storage in standard warehousing conditions.

Safety & Handling (MSDS Summary)

• Classification: Non-hazardous substance. GRAS approved.

• Handling: Standard industrial hygiene. Minimize dust generation.

• Storage: Keep container tightly closed. Oxidizes slowly if exposed to air/heat for prolonged periods.

FAQ

What is the difference between "Beta-Sitosterol" and "Phytosterols"?

Phytosterols are a group of plant sterols. Beta-Sitosterol is one specific type (and usually the most effective one) within that group. Our product is a Phytosterol concentrate where Beta-Sitosterol is the main component (usually 40-50% of the total sterol content).

Do you offer Soy-Free options?

Yes. While Soy is the most common source, we also offer Pine-derived Beta-Sitosterol for clients requiring an allergen-free or "Soy-Free" label claim.

What is the recommended dosage for cholesterol lowering?

FDA and EFSA health claims generally recommend a daily intake of 1.5g to 3g of plant sterols/stanols to achieve a beneficial cholesterol-lowering effect.
