Chitosan Oligosaccharide
Chitosan Oligosaccharide (COS) Powder | Water-Soluble Low MW Chitosan Headline: Chitosan Oligosaccharide Manufacturer | <3000 Da Water-Soluble Powder (CAS: 148411-57-8) Sub-info: Molecular Weight: <3,000 Dalton | Assay: ≥90% | Solubility: 100% in Water (pH Neutral) USP: Instant Absorption • Proven Bio-Stimulant • Enzymatic Hydrolysis Technology
Introduction

Chitosan Oligosaccharide (COS), also known as Oligochitosan, is a low molecular weight degradation product of Chitosan. Unlike standard Chitosan which requires acid for dissolution, our COS is produced via advanced enzymatic hydrolysis, resulting in a molecular weight of less than 3,000 Daltons.
This ultra-low molecular weight ensures water solubility at neutral pH and rapid absorption by the human body and plant cells. It is the premier choice for functional beverages, high-efficiency organic fertilizers, and immune-boosting supplements.

Functions
1.Agricultural Biostimulant (Plant Immunity)
COS acts as a potent elicitor. When applied to crops, it binds to specific receptors on the plant cell membrane, triggering systemic acquired resistance (SAR). This activates defense genes against fungi, bacteria, and viruses, while also promoting root development and nutrient uptake.

2.Immune Regulation & Gut Health
In human nutrition, COS serves as a prebiotic, selectively feeding beneficial Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli. It also enhances macrophage activity, boosting non-specific immunity.
3.Metabolic Health
Studies suggest COS helps regulate blood sugar and lipid metabolism by inhibiting intestinal absorption of cholesterol and improving insulin sensitivity, making it a valuable ingredient for metabolic syndrome management.

Applications
Agriculture (Organic Fertilizer):
• Foliar Fertilizers: Promotes growth and disease resistance (0.5-2.0% solution).
• Seed Treatment: Increases germination rates and seedling vigor.
• Nematicide: Effectively inhibits root-knot nematodes.
Functional Foods & Beverages:
• Immune Drinks: Fully soluble with no sediment or bitter taste.
• Dietary Supplements: High-bioavailability alternative to regular Chitosan.
Cosmetics:
• Skin Repair: Promotes collagen synthesis and hydration due to its excellent cell affinity.

Flow Chart
High-Quality Chitosan → Dissolution → Enzymatic Hydrolysis (Chitosanase) → Inactivation → Filtration → Membrane Separation (MW Cut-off) → Decolorization → Spray Drying → Sieving → Quality Control (HPLC/GPC) → Packaging
Note: Our green enzymatic process avoids the chemical residues (like chloride) common in acid-hydrolyzed products, ensuring a safer and purer final powder.

Method of Analysis of Lactoferrin
• Molecular Weight: Determined by GPC (Gel Permeation Chromatography) to confirm the distribution is below 3,000 Da.
• Content: Analyzed by HPLC to quantify specific oligomers (DP 2-8).

Stability and Safety
Stability Studies
• Shelf Life: 24 months.
• Hygroscopicity: COS is highly hygroscopic due to its exposed amino and hydroxyl groups.
• Storage: Must be stored in sealed aluminum foil bags in a dry environment. Exposure to air will cause the powder to absorb moisture and clump rapidly.
Safety & Handling (MSDS Summary)
• Classification: Non-hazardous substance.
• Safety: Non-toxic, biodegradable.
• Allergen Info: Derived from Snow Crab shells. (Non-animal fungal source also available upon request).

FAQ
What is the difference between Chitosan and Chitosan Oligosaccharide?
What is the difference between Chitosan and Chitosan Oligosaccharide?
Can I use this for seed soaking?
Yes. A 50-100 ppm solution (0.05-0.1g per Liter) is excellent for seed soaking. It improves germination rates and helps seedlings fight off early soil-borne diseases.
Does it contain heavy metals?
Our source material is deep-sea Snow Crab, which is cleaner than shrimp from coastal farms. We strictly control heavy metals to <10 ppm, making it safe for food and pharmaceutical use.
