Introduction

Lycopene is a bright red carotenoid pigment naturally found in tomatoes, watermelons, and pink grapefruits. It is a powerful chain-breaking antioxidant. Unlike Beta-Carotene, Lycopene does not convert to Vitamin A, making it safe for higher dosage supplementation without risk of toxicity.

We offer two distinct grades to meet diverse market needs:

1.Natural Tomato Extract: Extracted from premium Non-GMO tomato skins.

2.Fermented Grade: Derived from Blakeslea trispora (High purity, sustainable, and cost-effective).

Both sources are standardized to guarantee high stability and bioavailability.

Functions

1.Prostate & Men's Health (Key USP)

• Mechanism: Lycopene accumulates in the prostate gland. Research suggests it inhibits the proliferation of prostate cancer cells by modulating the IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor 1) signaling pathway and reducing DNA damage.

• Clinical Efficacy: Epidemiological studies indicate a correlation between high lycopene intake and reduced risk of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

2.Cardiovascular Protection

• LDL Oxidation: Lycopene prevents the oxidation of LDL cholesterol (the "bad" cholesterol), a key step in the formation of arterial plaque (atherosclerosis).

• Blood Pressure: May help improve endothelial function and blood pressure regulation.

3.Skin Defense (UV Protection)

• Internal Sunscreen: Scavenges free radicals generated by UV exposure, reducing erythema (redness) and preventing photo-aging.

Applications

Dietary Supplements:

• Men's Health Formulas: The #1 ingredient for prostate support capsules (often paired with Saw Palmetto/Pumpkin Seed Oil).

• Softgels: 6% or 10% Lycopene Oil Suspension is the preferred form for optimal absorption.

Food & Beverage (Natural Colorant):

• Meat Products: Used in sausages and cured meats to replace nitrites and provide a stable red color.

• Beverages: Micro-encapsulated CWS powder (10%) provides a cloudy red/pink hue for vitamin waters and energy drinks.

Cosmetics:

• Anti-pollution Creams: Added to skincare to neutralize environmental oxidative stress.

Flow Chart

1.Raw Material: Selection of ripe Tomatoes or Blakeslea trispora biomass.

2.Extraction: Ethyl Acetate or Supercritical CO2 extraction (Solvent-free).

3.Filtration: Removal of fibers and insoluble matter.

4.Crystallization: Concentration to obtain high-purity (96%) crystals.

5.Formulation (Critical Step):

• Oil Suspension: Dispersing crystals in sunflower oil to prevent oxidation and improve absorption.

• Beadlets (CWS): Spray drying with starch/gelatin matrix for water solubility.

6.Quality Control: HPLC Assay & Heavy Metal testing.

7.Packaging: Nitrogen-flushed aluminum bottles.

Method of Analysis of Lactoferrin

HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) is utilized for precise quantification.

• Column: C18 Reverse Phase.

• Wavelength: 472 nm.

• Significance: Spectrophotometric methods (UV) can overestimate content due to interference from other carotenoids. HPLC ensures you are paying for actual Lycopene.

Reference Chromatogram of Lactoferrin Reference Substance

The chromatogram displays a dominant peak for all-trans-lycopene. Depending on the processing method, some cis-isomers (which are actually more bioavailable) may be present. Our process controls the ratio to maximize stability and bio-efficacy.

Stability and Safety

Stability Studies

• Oxidation: Pure Lycopene crystals are extremely unstable in air.

• Solution: Our Beadlet Technology (Micro-encapsulation) protects the active ingredients.

• Data: 10% Beadlets stored at 25°C/60% RH retained >95% potency after 24 months.

• Storage: Keep in original sealed aluminum bags. Once opened, use immediately or reseal under nitrogen.

Safety & Handling (MSDS Summary)

• Classification: GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe).

• Storage: Store in a cool (below 20°C), dry place away from light.

• Handling: Product is a strong pigment. Avoid contact with clothing.

FAQ

Which source is better: Tomato or Fermented?

• Tomato: Preferred for "Natural" clean-label marketing. Contains other synergistic tomato phytonutrients (Tocopherols, Phytoene). • Fermented: Higher purity, more cost-effective, and sustainable. Ideal for high-dose supplements. • Performance: Both are chemically identical (all-trans lycopene) and effective.

What forms do you recommend for Softgels vs. Tablets?

• Softgels: Use Lycopene Oil Suspension (6% or 10%). It's pre-dissolved in oil for best bioavailability. • Tablets/Capsules: Use Lycopene Beadlets (CWS/TAB). They are pressure-resistant and won't leak oil during compression.

Is Lycopene safe for smokers?

Unlike Beta-Carotene, which was shown in some studies to increase risk in smokers, Lycopene has not demonstrated this adverse effect and is generally considered safe for all populations at recommended doses.
